Bill Freeland - Process and Ritual
Ashford Gallery, Royal Hibernian Academy of Art, Dublin, Ireland
5 aug – 26 aug 2005

The Ashford Gallery of the Royal Hibernian Academy exhibits the sculpture of American born artist Bill Freeland . Now and Irish resident, Freeland works and lives in Northwest Co. Mayo. Having shown internationally, this is Freeland's first solo exhibition in Ireland.

Though abstract and historically constructivist in nature, Freeland's work holds the human presence in reverence. Sharing Freeland's belief that making art, like poetry, is a product of living, and not theory, the viewer may turn a willing eye to abstract metaphors that reorient them to the land and the basic rituals of life and death.

Bill Freeland has stated, "To be working and living in Mayo at this time in my life, adds credence and a sense of authenticity to my personal and creative concerns as an artist."
